Understanding Vollure XC
Juvéderm Vollure XC is an HA gel with lidocaine, approved for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds, in adults over 21. Nasolabial folds extend from the sides of the nose toward the corners of the mouth.
The gel adds volume in selected tissues. It does not work by relaxing facial muscles, and it cannot remove loose skin. An assessment considers the fold, surrounding support and the expected limits of filler.
Vollure uses VYCROSS technology, combining HA of different molecular weights. The formulation is designed to balance gel properties and duration; your clinician chooses a product for the particular area and concern.
Expression lines and volume involve different concerns
Hyaluronic-acid filler supports volume in selected tissues. This illustration contrasts that goal with treatment for movement-related lines; it is not an injection plan or a before-and-after result.
Relaxers reduce selected muscle activity.

Talk about your goals
Describe the areas that concern you and the degree of change you would like. The assessment considers your face at rest and in movement, skin quality, volume and previous treatments.
Review your health
Bring your medication and supplement list. Discuss allergies, prior reactions, cold sores, recent procedures, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and any active skin infection. Do not stop a prescribed medicine unless the clinician who manages it advises you to.
Choose the treatment together
Your provider explains the product, the proposed areas, expected changes, limits, risks and cost. Ask whether a proposed use is FDA-approved for that product or off-label, and what that distinction means for your plan.
Plan comfort and follow-up
Numbing may be offered depending on the treatment; some fillers contain lidocaine. Confirm aftercare, when to assess the result and who to contact if something does not feel right.

What to Expect with Vollure XC
Assessment & preparation
Your provider reviews the treatment area, discusses the amount and expected change, and cleans the skin. Tell the team about prior fillers, recent dental work, laser treatments or chemical peels, and any history of cold sores.
Comfort & treatment
XC formulations contain lidocaine. Additional numbing may be offered. The practice describes many filler treatments as taking about 20–30 minutes, depending on the areas involved; allow more time for the consultation.
Aftercare & review
Early fullness can include swelling. Ask when to assess the settled result and whether a later review is recommended. Avoid adding more filler before your provider has evaluated the response.
After your visit

The first few days
Swelling, bruising, redness, tenderness, firmness or bumps can follow treatment. These usually improve over time, but some can last several weeks. Plan ahead for important events and contact your provider about persistent or worsening symptoms.
Your follow-up
Follow the instructions for your specific product. Juvéderm advises minimizing strenuous exercise, extensive heat or sun exposure, and alcohol for the first 24 hours. Discuss when to resume makeup and skin care.
Maintaining the result
The gel is gradually absorbed. Longevity depends on the formulation, area, treatment and individual response. Review the settled result and your goals before planning a maintenance visit.
An informed choice
Know the Risks Before Treatment
Temporary swelling, bruising, tenderness and redness can follow filler treatment. Infection, lumps, asymmetry or delayed inflammation can occur. Some filler materials can be difficult to remove.
Juvéderm products should not be used in people with certain severe allergies, including a history of anaphylaxis, or allergies to lidocaine or the bacterial proteins used in manufacture. Discuss all prior filler reactions. Treatment should be postponed at infected or inflamed sites; safety during pregnancy or breastfeeding has not been established.
Symptoms that need urgent attention
Rare injection into a blood vessel can damage skin or cause blindness or stroke. Seek immediate medical attention for unusual pain, skin turning white, gray or blue, vision changes or stroke symptoms after treatment.

Review the specific product’s patient information with your injector, including allergies, precautions and whether treatment should be postponed. Results and recovery differ between people.

Is Vollure the same as Juvéderm?
Vollure XC is one gel in the Juvéderm collection. Other gels have different characteristics and approved uses.
Can it treat every line around the mouth?
No single filler suits every concern. Lip lines, facial folds, muscle activity and skin texture need different assessments. Ask why a particular product is being proposed.
When will I see the result?
Volume may change immediately, but swelling can temporarily alter the appearance. Your provider will explain when to assess the settled result and whether a follow-up is useful.
Can I have a peel or laser treatment as well?
Discuss timing with your clinician. Procedures affecting the skin near filler treatment can increase the chance of inflammation, so they should be coordinated.
Who should postpone treatment?
Active skin infection or inflammation may require a delay. Certain severe allergies are contraindications, and safety during pregnancy or breastfeeding has not been established. Review your health and medications before proceeding.
