For many people, skin imperfections such as uneven tone, acne scarring and wrinkles can significantly limit self-confidence. The natural aging process, sun exposure and everyday pollution work together to work against the youthful glow and healthy tone and texture of your skin by damaging collagen. With skin resurfacing, you can improve your skin’s appearance in just a few treatments. By utilizing radiofrequency and light technology, your skin’s own collagen is rebuilt, resulting in smoother and more even skin. Skin resurfacing is meant to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, pore size, post-inflammatory or acne scarring, as well as improve the overall tone and firmness of the skin.
The ideal client for skin resurfacing is someone that is looking to improve the overall texture and appearance of their skin. This treatment is successfully performed on both men and women.

Sublative Skin Resurfacing
(note: this service is not provided at EPS and is listed for information purposes only) One form of skin resurfacing is done using the e2 Sublative. Sublative skin resurfacing is a fractionated bipolar radio frequency technology (non-laser device) that stimulates collagen production deep in the dermis layer of skin, without damaging the surface layers of the skin. The radio frequency is directed to the skin in a matrix form. Deep heating of the dermis around the matrix pattern stimulates a natural healing response, signaling new collagen formation. Collagen is an essential component to skin, which provides structure, elasticity and resilience. With new collagen production, the skin is left with more even skin tone, reduced acne scars and reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Sublative offers patients of all skin types a safe and effective solution for reversing multiple signs of aging.
Sublative is safe, effective, and FDA cleared for all skin types. There is no preparation needed prior to having the e2 Sublative treatment. Generally, you should expect to have up to three treatment sessions, spread 4-6 weeks apart for optimal results. Some people report a warm prickling sensation. A topical pain reliever is applied to the skin prior to treatment to reduce discomfort. You may experience a slight sunburn feeling for approximately 30 minutes after the treatment. You may also experience a slight micro-crusting on the face for 2-3 days following the treatment, but makeup can be applied over this. This advanced technology offers excellent results with minimum downtime.
Laser skin resurfacing
Another form of skin resurfacing is done through laser technology. Active-FX is the gold standard in laser skin resurfacing, dramatically improving the visible signs of aging. Lasers use light to bore microscopic holes in the skin, triggering the body’s natural healing process. The laser is designed to remove the upper layer of the skin epidermis and stimulate collagen production at the dermis layer. This process erases fine lines and wrinkles, corrects for sun damage and strengthens the dermis for a brighter, tighter appearance.
You may benefit from small, individual areas on your face, or you may want to treat your entire face. Side effects of treatment include facial tenderness, redness, and swelling. Redness and tenderness can last several weeks, while new skin grows over the area where damaged skin was removed. This type of laser resurfacing is not appropriate for all skin types, as change in pigmentation can occur with darker skin tones.
You should allow yourself several days to recover after having laser skin resurfacing. It is important to follow the recommended skin care regimen that our team will instruct. In addition, it is very important to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect your skin while it heals.
