Your consultation considers skin health, previous treatments and everyday use of your hands. A plan may involve one treatment or a sequence, with enough time for healing between steps.

Understanding Hand Rejuvenation
Sun exposure can affect pigment and skin texture. Changes in the soft tissue beneath the skin can make tendons and veins more visible. Surface treatment and volume replacement address different parts of that picture.
A chemical peel may improve selected surface concerns; a dermal filler adds volume in an appropriate tissue layer. Neither approach stops aging, and a photograph cannot determine which treatment suits you.
Surface changes and volume involve different layers
The back of the hand includes skin, soft tissue and deeper tendons. This simplified view separates surface concerns from changes in volume; it is not an injection map.
Skin treatments address selected tone and texture concerns.

Match the Treatment to the Concern
Volume loss
Selected fillers can reduce the visibility of underlying structures on the backs of the hands. Radiesse has an approved hand-volume indication; products have different uses and risk profiles. Ask which specific product is proposed and why.
Texture & fine lines
A peel may be considered for suitable skin concerns. The product, treatment depth and your skin response determine the care and recovery involved. It does not replace missing volume.
Brown spots & uneven tone
Laser or intense pulsed light may be discussed for selected pigment concerns. IPL uses a broad spectrum of light and is not a laser. Donna can explain whether assessment or referral is appropriate and confirm current treatment availability.
Ongoing skin care
Sun protection and an individualized skin-care routine remain part of the plan. A new, changing or concerning spot needs medical assessment before a cosmetic treatment is considered.

Your history
Discuss prior hand injections, skin procedures, allergies, circulation concerns, healing problems and medications. An infection, rash or unexplained lesion may mean postponing treatment.

Plan around work, handwashing, exercise and events. Ask about swelling, bruising, wound care and when to return to usual activities.

A Plan Before a Product
Talk about your goals
Describe what you notice on the backs of your hands: volume loss, visible tendons or veins, uneven pigment or rough texture. Donna assesses skin quality, previous treatments and which concerns a proposed treatment can address.
Review your health
Bring your medication and supplement list. Discuss allergies, prior reactions, cold sores, recent procedures, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and any active skin infection. Do not stop a prescribed medicine unless the clinician who manages it advises you to.
Choose the treatment together
Your provider explains the product, the proposed areas, expected changes, limits, risks and cost. Ask whether a proposed use is FDA-approved for that product or off-label, and what that distinction means for your plan.
Plan comfort and follow-up
Numbing may be offered depending on the treatment; some fillers contain lidocaine. Confirm aftercare, when to assess the result and who to contact if something does not feel right.

What Happens at a Hand Treatment Visit?
Confirm the plan
Donna assesses the concern and reviews the selected product or skin treatment, expected benefit, alternatives and risks. The proposed treatment area is cleaned and comfort measures are discussed.
Treatment-specific care
A filler appointment and a resurfacing appointment are different experiences. Ask what you may feel and how the treated area will be protected afterward; no treatment should be described as universally painless.
Arrange follow-up
Before leaving, know how to contact the practice and when to review the result. Do not massage or adjust an injected area unless specifically instructed.
Aftercare
Plan for Your Hands to Heal
Early changes
Filler may cause swelling, bruising, redness or tenderness. Resurfacing may involve redness and peeling. These changes can affect your routine even if a procedure is performed in an office visit.
Protect the treated skin
Follow your own instructions about cleansing, moisturizers, sun protection and activity. Avoid picking peeling skin, and ask when to restart active skin-care products.
Assess the settled result
Timing and maintenance depend on the selected treatment and your response. Filler is temporary; surface changes and volume loss may require different follow-up plans.
An informed choice
Know the Risks Before Treatment
Temporary swelling, bruising, tenderness and redness can follow filler treatment. Infection, lumps, asymmetry or delayed inflammation can occur. Some filler materials can be difficult to remove.
Symptoms that need urgent attention
Rare injection into a blood vessel can damage skin or cause blindness or stroke. Seek immediate medical attention for unusual pain, skin turning white, gray or blue, vision changes or stroke symptoms after treatment.
Your product matters
Review the specific product’s patient information with your injector, including allergies, precautions and whether treatment should be postponed. Results and recovery differ between people.
Skin treatments have different risks
Peels and light-based treatments can cause irritation, pigment changes, burns or scarring. Your skin type, sun exposure and selected treatment affect the risks and aftercare. Ask which options are appropriate for your hands.

Questions About Hand Rejuvenation
Will filler remove age spots?
No. Filler addresses volume. Pigment or surface texture requires a separate assessment and may call for a different treatment.
Can I combine treatments?
Sometimes, but the order and spacing depend on the products, skin health and healing. Ask Donna to explain why each proposed step is useful.
Is every filler suitable for hands?
No. Approved uses, composition and risks differ by product. Ask which treatment is proposed for your hands and whether that use is approved or off-label.
Does Radiesse dissolve like an HA filler?
Radiesse cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase. Discuss this distinction and alternatives before treatment.
Can I have hand treatment at home?
Ask about GO-Tox. The team must confirm the product, treatment suitability, location and available in-home services; resurfacing is not automatically part of a concierge visit.
