At Ennis Plastic Surgery, two approaches may be discussed: endoscopic brow lift and browpexy. They differ in access, scope and the amount of change they can provide.
Endoscopic brow lift
Dr. Ennis performs endoscopic brow lift surgery through small incisions behind the hairline. An endoscope—a thin instrument with a camera—lets him view the underlying structures while working through these smaller openings.
Specialized instruments are used to release and reposition selected tissues and, where appropriate, adjust muscles contributing to frown lines. The approach is intended to address brow descent and selected forehead furrows while limiting the length of the incisions.
The published guide describes five small scalp incisions. Their number and placement, the treatment of the muscles between the brows, and how the tissues will be supported should be explained for your individual plan.
Browpexy
Browpexy is a more limited procedure used to elevate or stabilize the brow. It is often considered alongside upper blepharoplasty, using the same eyelid incision to secure the underside of the brow to the tissue lining the orbital bone.
In selected situations, access may be through a small incision above the eyebrow. The aim is modest support near the upper rim of the eye socket; browpexy generally produces less change than an endoscopic lift and has a more limited role.
It may be discussed when only a small adjustment or stabilization is needed. A consultation should explain why this approach is suitable, rather than treating it as interchangeable with a full brow lift.

Why the forehead
& brow change
The forehead and eyebrows can be among the first areas where you notice facial aging. Changes in skin elasticity and collagen, the effects of gravity and repeated expression can alter the position of the brow and deepen existing lines. Sun exposure and other environmental factors also influence skin quality.
Inherited brow shape and naturally heavy tissues matter too. A lowered brow or deep furrow may convey tiredness, sadness or concern that does not match how you feel. Surgery is a personal choice; the starting point is understanding the anatomy behind the appearance you notice.

Incisions, hairline
& technique
Traditional open techniques may use a longer incision across the scalp or near the hairline. The endoscopic approach uses smaller access points and a camera to see the tissues beneath the skin. Browpexy uses a different route and provides more limited support.
Smaller incisions still require healing and can leave scars. Ask how your hairline, hair density and hairstyle affect placement, and discuss numbness, hair changes and other possible complications. A smaller incision does not remove the need for careful recovery or guarantee a better result for every person.

What is a brow lift?
